Howl-O-Ween Pet Costume Contest
We are pleased to announce our second annual Howl-O-Ween Pet Costume Contest at The Pet Cremation Center of Southern Utah! Please join us on Thursday and Friday, October 26th and 27th, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. Bring your pet in costume to our offices located at 1316 S. 400 E., #A3, in St. George. We’ll take your pet’s photo and enter them to win our grand prize, valued at $200! Photos will be shared on Facebook and Instagram, and votes will be cast online. Prizes will also be awarded for second and third place. All participants will receive a special trick-or-treat.
And speaking of Halloween, here are five tips provided by petmd.com to help keep your pet safe on that spooky night:
– Keep treats out of reach. If ingested, sugar-free candies and chocolate can be especially dangerous to your pet’s health.
-Be mindful of your pet’s costume. Costumes should fit properly without restricting movement or causing trouble breathing. Be sure the costume doesn’t rub anywhere that may cause sores or bare spots.
-Ensure that decorations are safely placed. Pay special attention to open flames, including lighted jack-o-lanterns.
-Keep anxious pets calm during activity. Provide your pet with a safe place to hunker down during trick-or-treating hours. Turning on music or the TV can help mask the sounds of the doorbell ringing.
-Ensure that your pet’s ID’s and collars are updated. As there is a higher-than-average risk of your pet escaping when doors are opening or closing, make sure that they are wearing their collars with updated contact information so they can be returned home quickly.
To quote petmed.com, “Halloween is a fun and whimsical start to the holiday season, but it can be confusing, frightening, and dangerous to your pet. Fortunately, it is possible to take just a few simple steps to make the holiday fun and safe for all.”
